Cathie Weissman has received the University Staff Employee Appreciation Award for April at University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Weissman, of Menomonie, is a financial specialist for the School of Art and Design. The award was given to her virtually recently.
Weissman’s nomination stated: “Cathie is a real asset to the department. She is always ready to lend a hand. She acts immediately when needed and does an excellent job of making every person feel heard and understood. She’s personable, professional and extremely detail oriented. She has even taken studio art courses, perhaps so that she can better understand our needs. She is a wonderful, interesting person, and the School of Art and Design would be lost without her. Cathie is a gem.”
Weissman, originally from Greendale, came to UW-Stout as a graduate student seeking certification as a school psychologist. She received her Ed. S. degree in Guidance and Counseling in August 1992. She then went on to complete a doctorate from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D.
Weissman said she was surprised to earn the award. “I am very honored to receive this award,” she said. “I am very fortunate to work with a great group of students, faculty and staff at UW-Stout, the School of Art and Design and the College of Arts, Communication, Humanities and Social Sciences.”
Each winner receives a certificate of recognition, a UW-Stout travel mug and a UW-Stout blanket.
Students, faculty and staff may nominate a university staff member who demonstrates a commitment to excellence and the university community.
The award, in its 14th year, was established by the Chancellor’s Office and is co-sponsored by the University Staff Senate.
