Congratulations on your Admission!
We are excited to welcome you to UW-Stout!
Please complete the following steps to ensure a smooth transition to Menomonie:
1. | Activate your UW-Stout Microsoft Account: Be sure to regularly check your email for important pre-arrival communications. |
---|---|
2. | Make Accommodation Arrangements: If you will live on campus, you will receive the relevant housing forms in your UW-Stout email. Submit these forms as directed in the email. |
3. | Obtain your F-1 or J-1 Visa: To enter the U.S. you will need your I-20 or DS-2019, passport and visa. To apply for your visa, go online to www.fmjfee.com and submit the SEVIS I-901 form along with payment in order to be granted an interview with a consular official. You will need your SEVIS ID number located on your I-20 or DS-2019. Transfer Students: If you are already and F-1 student, you will need to request a transfer of your SEVIS record to UW-Stout. Please refer to your acceptance letter and email for information about how to transfer your SEVIS record. Once UW-Stout receives your SEVIS record, we will create and issue your new I-20. |
4. | Pay Advanced Confirmation Deposit: After you have obtained your visa, you will receive instructions to your UW-Stout email address on how to pay the $5,000 advanced confirmation deposit. These funds will be applied to your first semester's tuition and fees. Note: advanced confirmation deposit is refundable until July 1 for fall term and December 1 for spring term. |
5. | Complete the Student Account Contract: The Student Account Contract must be completed prior to course registration. You will not be required to pay the full amount of tuition and fees until after classes start. Instructions can be found here. |
6. | Submit your Travel Itinerary: Once you know your travel plans, make a reservation with the Groome Transportation for shuttle from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport (Code MSP) to Menomonie, Wisconsin. Please complete the Arrival Information Form as this information will help us prepare for your arrival. University Housing will not be open for students until the official New International Student Arrival Day. If you arrive prior to this date, you should plan to stay in a local hotel. |
More information about your arrival can be found in the Welcome Packet received with your acceptance materials. Please read this information carefully before coming to UW-Stout. We also recommend that you carry your Welcome Packet with you when you travel to the U.S.
